The purpose of this Fund is to support the ongoing operations of the Woodside Community Museum.
What your donations are used for:
Donations are used for ongoing historical projects, acquisitions, and the creation of new exhibits at the Museum. We keep our costs low by using volunteer expertise whenever possible.
We are now in our fourth year of our Preservation Award program, where we present a plaque to residents who have restored, repaired or saved an historic structure. The awards are made in May, which is National Preservation Month. In 2014, we made three awards. The first award went to a remodel of an historic 'village' house near the school, the second to an entry way/pylons/gate that was part of an old estate, and the third to a remodeled gate house which is now used as a guest cottage. Small or large, efforts to preserve the historic features of Woodside should be recognized.
How you can help:
New volunteers are always needed and encouraged to become members of our History Committee board, and to help with a variety of duties. We are always looking for long-time residents to provide oral histories.
Why this fund is important:
The Woodside Community Museum is an invaluable Town resource. It allows us to continue to tell the history of this unique place through both permanent and changing displays.
Through the Community Museum we also maintain the Town's archives, available to residents and the general public for historical research. We encourage people with historic photographs and documents pertaining to the Town to donate or loan these materials to the Museum to help expand our archival collections.
